The Issues
At LinCon, we address the complex challenges faced by asylum seekers and work tirelessly to provide support and solutions.

Challenges Faced by Asylum Seekers
The promulgation of Sharia and Blasphemy Laws in the 1980s, coupled with an apartheid mode of election, introduced a new form of oppression of Pakistani minority communities. Since then, scores of Pakistanis, particularly from minority communities, have been booked for blasphemy, leading to lynching, imprisonment, and the razing of worship places and settlements. Many families have fled to Thailand, Malaysia, and Sri Lanka since 2012, hoping to gain asylum. LinCon assists these families in their asylum claims, especially when they lack documentary evidence.
The misuse of the Blasphemy laws in Pakistan has enabled a state of oppression and created a disbalance of power between the subgroups in the Pakistani population. When a person or an entire family is wrongfully targeted, their only option to escape imprisonment or death is to flee the country.

Addressing Misconceptions
A common misconception is that asylum seekers drain valuable resources. However, it's been proven that asylum seekers make valuable contributions to their new countries by filling essential roles in sectors facing labour shortages, such as agriculture and other industries.

LinCon's Impact: Real Stories
Imran's Story: After being falsely accused of blasphemy and assaulted, Imran and his family fled Pakistan. UNHCR initially denied his asylum claim due to lack of evidence. LinCon rewrote his case and connected him with contacts in Canada, where he and his family gained asylum in three years. *Names changed
Harry's Story: Harassed and threatened by neighbours to convert to Islam, Harry and his family sought asylum in Brisbane. Initially rejected due to "insufficient grounds," LinCon's support, including Fr Arnold's affidavit, led to a successful appeal and the granting of asylum status within a fortnight. *Names changed
Ashraf's Story: Attacked by the Taliban for playing hymns during the Azan (call to prayer), Ashraf and his family faced severe violence and threats. With LinCon's help, Ashraf and his family sought refuge in Bangkok.
